Dec 5th, Thai people just celebrated the 81st Birthday of His Majesty The King Bhumipol. In this occasion I want to share some impressive story about our beloved King.

Last year there was a song “Roob Ti Mee Took Baan” (The Picture That Exist in Every House) sung by No.1 Thai pop singer ‘Bird-Thongchai.’

This song portrays the interesting fact that in Thailand, wherever you go, you’ll find a picture of The King in every house, whether near or far, in rich or poor families.

There is no rule or law that you have to put his picture, but we do it because of love and faith! Thai people adore The King very much, he is a big inspiration. When you look at his picture, you will get the willpower to do the good things. (Also when some Thai people had great moment, they would raise his picture to show respect. For example; the previous 3 Thai boxers who won gold medals from Olympic Games, they proudly raised The King’s picture on the stage after the final matches.)

From young to old, The King always worked for Thai people tirelessly. He went everywhere to visit his people, even in the remote and rough places. The King had pushed forward different projects to help Thai poor, farmers and rural people continuously.

I’m very proud to be Thai people, because our King is very farsighted. Over tens years; The King had worked in many creative projects and passed on knowledge to Thai people such as Sustainable Development, Integrated Agriculture, Global Warming and Self-Sufficiency Economy.


Many Thai people like to call The King Bhumipol shortly as ‘Nai Luang.’ And many regard him as “A Dad of Thai people.” Don’t you know? Our King is also very interested in art and music. The King has so many hobbies; he plays the music and had composed some songs (his favourite instrument is ‘Saxophone’), he enjoys photo shooting (his recent camera is ‘Canon EOS 30D), and his favourite sports are badminton, ski and sailing. (The King once won a gold medal for sailing in the 4th SEAP Games in 1967)

The King sometimes gives his speech to remind Thai people, especially in his birthday. But this time The King was so sick, so he couldn’t appear and give the speech…

Now The King is very old and sometimes not healthy, so I wish him ‘Good Health’ and ‘Happiness.’ (In time of trouble, Thai people still need The King like Thee!)

To Respect…
There are many reasons.
But To Love…
Is from the heart!

プミポン陛下：心の王様

12月5日、プミポン国王陛下は81歳のお誕生日をお迎えになり、タイ国民の祝福を受けられました。この機会に、僕達の敬愛なる国王について印象的なお話をいくつかお伝えしたいと思います。

昨年、「Roob Ti Mee Took Baan」（誰の家にも飾られている写真）という曲を、タイのポップ歌手バード・トンチャイが歌っていました。

この曲では、タイでは所在地、貧富を問わずどこの家庭でも必ず国王の写真が飾ってあるという事実を歌っています。

国王の写真を飾らなければならないという規則や法律はないのですが、僕達はただ敬愛と忠誠の気持ちからそうするのです！タイ国民は国王を深く愛しており、大いなるインスピレーションである国王に強い憧憬の念を抱いています。国王の写真を見ると、善いことを行おうとする意志が湧いて来ます。（偉大な瞬間が訪れたとき敬意を表する為に国王の写真を掲げる人もいます。例えば、歴代オリンピック金メダリストの三人のボクサー達は、決勝戦の後、リングで国王の写真を誇らしげに掲げたのです。）

若かりし頃から今に至るまで、陛下はタイ国民の為に絶え間なくお力を尽くされて来ました。人々に会うために、遠隔地や荒廃地までどこでも出向かれました。陛下は様々なプロジェクトを推進され、タイの貧しい人々、農家の人々、そして地方の人々を継続的に助けられています。

将来の展望を持った国王を持ち、僕はタイ国民として誇りに思います。10年間に渡り陛下は、持続開発な事業、一体農業、地球温暖化そして自給自足経済など創造的なプロジェクトを推進しタイ国民の見識を高められています。

タイ国民は、プミポン国王のことを単に「王様」と呼ぶことを好みます。そして多くにとって陛下は「タイ国民の父」なのです。ご存知でしたか？王様は実はアートと音楽に非常に興味をお持ちなのです。王様には実に多くの趣味が；楽器を弾き作曲もされます（一番好きな楽器はサックスです）し、写真を撮るのもお好き（今使っているカメラはキャノンのEOS 30D）、そして好きなスポーツはバドミントン、スキーそしてセーリング。（王様はセーリングでは1967年の第４回東南アジア半島大会（SEAP）で金メダルを勝ち取っています。）

王様はタイ国民にご意志を伝える為に、たまにスピーチをされます。特に誕生日に行うことが多いのですが、今回はあまりも体調が悪く、お姿をお見せになりスピーチを行うことは出来ませんでした...

非常にご高齢で体調が優れないことも多い陛下のご健康とお幸せをお祈りしています。（この困難なときに、タイ国民にはまだ陛下の様な国王が必要なのです！）
