Hello from Thailand!
One big event about movie just finished here.
It was “The Bangkok Intl Film Festival 2008” (BKIFF), the biggest film festival in Thailand.
This is already the sixth time!

This event held by ‘Tourism Authority of Thailand’ (TAT) and ‘the Federation of National Film Associations of Thailand’ (FNFAT). Its objective is to promote Thai Film Industry and contemporary art and culture.

For me, I had seen 3 movies in BKIFF2008. They were “The Last Mistress” (FRA / Catherine Breillat), “Vicky Christina Barcelona” (USA / Woody Allen), and “Milky Way Liberation Front” (Yoon Seong-ho).
I was very lucky! Because all the films I chose are really great. Especially “Vicky Christina” by director Woody Allen… it was such a simple film but charming and delighted.
But unfortunately for the J & K Movies fan like me, because this year there were just 1 film from Japan and 1 film from Korea!

And here are the HIGHLIGHTS for you!




The Opening Film:

It was Thai movie “Queen of Langkasuka.” The biggest Thai Film Production in 2008.
This Action/Fantasy movie features many big names like Thai top director “Nonzee Nimibutr” (His most successful was the horror film “Nang Nak”, 1999) with Thai top stars “Ananda”, “Sorapong Chatree”, and “Tik-Jessadaporn.” This film will release in Thai theatres, Oct 23.





The Closing Film:

Is Japanese movie “Nanayo” (ななよまち). The drama film by female director “Naomi Kawase” with the actress “Kyoko Hasegawa.” This movie production was shot in Thailand.





The Middle man is Thai actor “Shakrit Yamnarm.” (Bangkok Dangerous)
And the man in glasses is Thai producer/director “Prachaya Pinkaew” (Ong Bak / Ma-Ha)





Korean pop star “Lee Dong-wook.”





Thai top director “Noozee” (middle) and the hottest Thai actor “Ananda” (right)



The Red Carpet Event:

Besides lot of Thai top stars, there were some international stars like “Jean-Claude Van Damne” (US), “Leon Lai” (HK), “Lee Dong-wook” (Korea), “Fann Wong” (SG),
“Mindee Ong” (SG), “Makoto” (JAP / Lucifer’s Vocal) and “Asuka” (JAP / New actress in Thai movie “Kill Tim”).





“PVC-1”

The Golden Kinnaree Awards:

The top prize in main competition belonged to Colombian film “PVC-1.” And the top winner in South East Asian Competition is “Serbis” from Philippines.

バンコク映画祭2008

タイからこんにちは！
こちらでは映画の一大イベントが終わったばかり。
タイ最大の映画祭、「バンコク国際映画祭2008」（BKIFF）です。
すでに６回目を数えています！

このイベントはタイ国観光協会（TAT）とタイ映画連盟（FNFAT）が主催しています。目的は、タイの映画業界と現代のアートやカルチャーをプロモートすること。

僕は、このバンコク映画祭で３本映画を観ました。「最後の愛人」（Une vieille maitresse、仏／カトリーヌ・ブレイヤ）、「Vicky Christina Barcelona」（米／ウディ・アレン）、そして「Milky Way Liberation Front」（ホ・ユンスン）。
僕はラッキーでした！選んだ映画はどれも本当に素晴らしかったのです。特にウディ・アレン監督の「Vicky Christina Barcelona」...とてもシンプルですが、魅力的で明るい映画でした。しかし、僕の様な日韓映画ファンにっては残念なことに、今回は日本から１本、韓国からも１本しか出品されていませんでした。

以下ハイライトです！





オープニング映画：

タイ映画「ランカスカ女王」（Queen of Langkasuka）
2008年最高の製作費を投じたタイ映画。
ビッグネームが揃ったアクション／ファンタジー映画。ナンバーワン監督ノンスィー・ニミブット（一番成功したのは1999年のホラー映画『ナンナーク』）のもと、トップスターのアナンダ、ソラポン・チャートリーそしてTik-Jessadapornが集結。この映画はタイでは10月23日に劇場公開される予定。





クロージング映画：

日本映画の『七夜待』。女性監督の河瀬直美が長谷川京子を起用したこの映画は、タイで撮影されたのです。





真ん中がタイの俳優チャクリット・イェムナーム（『RAINレイン』）、そして眼鏡の男性がタイのプロデューサー兼監督プラッチャヤー・ピンゲーオ（『マッハ!!!!!!!』。）





韓国のポップスター、イ・ドンウク





ナンバーワン監督ノンスィー（真ん中）と今一番ホットなタイの男優、アナンダ（右）。



レッドカーペット：

タイのトップスターに加え、国際的なスターもちらほらと。ジャンクロード・ヴァンダム（米）、レオン・ライ（香港）、イ・ドンウク（韓）、ファン・オン（シンガポール）、 ミンディー・オン（シンガポール）、MAKOTO（日本、元Λuciferのボーカル）、明日果（日本／タイ映画「Kill Tim」に出演している新人女優）等々。





PVC-1

ゴールデンキナリー賞：

本戦のコンペティション部門の最優秀賞はコロンビア映画「PVC-1」が受賞。そして東南アジアコンペティション部門の最優秀賞にはフィリピン映画「Serbis」が選ばれました。
